Dive with the Bull Sharks Contest

The Oklahoma Aquarium is hosting its annual Dive with the Bull Sharks contest. This year, two lucky divers will swim with the world's largest collection of bull sharks. Both winners will be randomly selected, but one will come from Oklahoma while the other comes from one of the other 47 contiguous United States. The contest is held in association with Sharklahoma, a month-long celebration of sharks at the Oklahoma Aquarium in collaboration with the Jenks Chamber of Commerce. The winners of the Dive with the Bull Sharks contest will wear a 40-pound, $6,000 chain mail suit, and a GoPro to swim alongside scuba-certified aquarium staff. 

Fine Print:  All contest entrants must be certified scuba divers, 18 or older, and provide their certification number on the application. The aquarium's protective chain mail suits cannot accommodate individuals taller than 6'6" and/or weighing more than 250 lbs. and anyone exceeding those measurements is ineligible to win. The deadline for entry is MONDAY, JULY 31, 2023, at 11:59 p.m., and winners will be announced on AUGUST 1, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. The in-state winner will receive a two-night stay at a hotel, a gas stipend, and meal vouchers. The out-of-state winner will receive roundtrip travel-stipend, a three-night stay at a hotel, and meal vouchers. The checkout dive will take place in advance. Dates slated for August are the 11th & 12th for the test & the dive. Entrants must be available to dive on the test dive to dive with the sharks.

Divers will be required to sign a liability waiver and complete a check-out dive prior to diving with the bull sharks. The contest is valid for U.S. citizens in the 48 contiguous United States only.
